During my time at KU as a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellow (MCF), I was able to join the Teaching and Learning in Higher Education Program (TLHEP) for tenure-track assistant and associate professors at KU’s Faculty of Social Science in 2023. The comprehensive program (c. 175h work volume) is structured in ten training days and complemented by various tasks, e.g., completing a small-scale research project within the field of scholarship of teaching and learning, in my case I conducted a survey-based study of the practice of co-teaching at the University of Copenhagen’s (UCPH) Department of Arts and Cultural Studies. The program was completed with the development of an individual Teaching Portfolio (feel free to get in touch if you’d like to read the document). Topics addressed in the TLHEP include, among others, “Student Well-Being”, “Research-integrated Teaching and Learning”, and “Feedback and Assessment”. As overarching themes the course focused on student-centered and research-based learning; two topics I have discussed above. Although I gained several new insights in these regards, I was glad to see that many of the approaches discussed in the course I already follow or apply in my teaching. Such, as I would call it, “collaborative modes” of working with students are for me most apparent in the supervision of student projects or when including students into research and dissemination projects.
